Benoît Chauvin

Mr Chauvin is a graduate of the ESTP and ENSPM Engineering Schools. He began his career in 1984 in the oil construction sector at Bouygues Offshore. He held several international management positions, first in overseeing offshore installation projects, then in managing major turnkey projects.

In 1998, he moved into an executive management role, overseeing functional entities in fields such as engineering, in particular as CEO of SOFRESID.

In 2012, he joined Colas as CEO of its energy subsidiary, SPAC, and then four years later was appointed Deputy Managing Director in charge of Africa. In 2018, he became head of the newly created Business Development entity within International Executive Management (excluding the Americas), and in 2020 he was appointed head of the Colas Group’s Business Development Department.

Jaap de Koning

The Perspective of the Consulting Industry on Collaborative Contracts

Educated as an Economist and Constructional Engineer Jaap de Koning has an 25 year experience in the field of tendering, contracting and project management in the infrastructure and construction industry. He is head of the group Contracting and Procurement at the Witteveen+Bos Amsterdam office.

He is a regular chairman and speaker on (international) conferences and he is a member of a number of national expert groups on the subject. He is chair the European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations (EFCA)'s Internal Market Committee in Brussels. He is registered at the National Committee on Procurement-experts, and he contributes monthly in Cobouw. He focuses on projects with specific elements, like Early Contractor Involvement and the ambition to innovate through procurement. He is co-author of an ECI model that is widely used in Holland. He is able to translate the principles and often legal aspects in normal language so that the client and his team members understand the issues.

Mathias Fabich

Mathias Fabich is a construction professional with 20 years of experience at the PORR company in Vienna. With over 20,000 staff and production output of around EUR 5.7 bn (2021), the PORR Group is one of Austria’s largest construction companies and a leading player in Europe. Mathias is currently representing the PORR group in Norway as country manager.

Mathias holds a master degree in Civil Engineering from the Vienna Technical University and a master degree in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution from the King’s College London.

Chairing the Working Group Contract Conditions at EIC (European International Contractors) is keeping him up to date with the latest developments in construction contract and procurement issues.

Ole Hansen

Keynote Speech: Current Legal Challenges of Large and Complex Construction Projects

Ole Hansen is a professor of law at the University of Copenhagen’s Faculty of Law and a co-founder of the Center for Private Governance (CEPRI).

He is specialized in construction law and long-term contracts and has published books and articles on the development of construction contract models. Ole Hansen is chairman of the board of The Danish Society for Construction and Consulting Law and currently a member of the European Commission’s Working Group on Decarbonisation of Transport Infrastructure Construction.

As the CEO of Sund & Bælt Holding A/S, Mikkel Hemmingsen sets the strategic direction and oversees daily operations of the company, which includes the Femern Belt project.

Under Mikkel Hemmingsen’s leadership, Sund & Bælt has focused on using advanced technology such as drones, robots, and sensors to improve the maintenance of the Great Belt Bridge.

The Femern Belt project also involves advanced construction techniques and technologies and is expected to enhance connectivity between Denmark and Germany, fostering economic growth and social cohesion in the region.

Mikkel Hemmingsen is committed to promoting sustainability within all the company's projects and operations and he is actively working on setting ambitious sustainability goals and collaborates with other stakeholders to advance the sustainability agenda.

Shy Jackson

Lessons Learned from Using the NEC Model

Shy is a partner at BCLP, an international law firm. His practice covers advising on construction and engineering projects as well as acting in dispute resolution proceedings, including arbitration, litigation adjudication and forms of ADR.

Shy is a member of the NEC Contract Board and is recognised for his expertise in Who’s Who Legal: Construction where he is listed as a Global Thought Leader, as well as being recognised in Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners where references include “He knows NEC contracts back to front. Christian Johansen

With 25 years’ experience as a construction lawyer, including substantial experience in drafting a variety of international commercial contracts, Christian Johansen is often involved in legal work relating to domestic and international commercial contracts in the areas of energy and offshore, construction and infrastructure, technology, distribution and agency, reinsurance, and insurance as well as other long-term contracts, maritime contracts, and international sales contracts.

 

He is specialised in construction and contract law and serves as a lawyer in disputes involving domestic and international construction law in both litigation and arbitration. Christian Johansen has acted in disputes involving construction law under the rules of the Danish Building and Construction Board, the International Chamber of Commerce, and the Danish Institute of Arbitration. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London.

Lauri Kangas

Senior Transport Expert // City of Helsinki

Delivering light rail with project alliancing

Lauri Kangas is a Senior Transport Expert at the City of Helsinki’s Urban Environment division. Lauri has a passion for public transport together with extensive experience in light rail project design and management. He worked for five years on the Jokeri Light Rail project from feasibility study to the alliance leadership team and two years as assistant project director of the Kalasatama to Pasila project with two project alliances.

Lauri’s current role involves coordinating public transport matters and investment plans for the whole City of Helsinki. He also serves as deputy managing director of Helsinki’s metro ownership organization.

Lauri Kangas holds an MSc. in computer science and telematics in transportation from Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University).

Dejan Makovsek

The new OECD platform for corporate dialogue on infrastructure delivery

Dejan has spent ten years working for the private sector before joining the OECD in 2014. Over the past 20 years he has worked on numerous country policy and infrastructure project level assignments mostly in advanced OECD economies.

For the OECD Dejan has led the development of a body of work on private investment in infrastructure, co-authored the OECD’s procurement strategy methodology and applied it on major projects, and driven many other initiatives. He has proposed new expert platforms at the OECD that would better connect the high-level policy makers with those buying the infrastructure on the public sector side and the private supply chain that makes it happen.  The platform for the public sector infrastructure buyers is already up and running with several state-owned enterprises and infrastructure agencies on board. The call for its private sector counterpart has been launched in the summer of 2024.

Gustavo Martínez

Mr. Gustavo Martínez is the Commercial Director and Head of Digitalization & Documentation in Bidding & Contracting at Ferrovial Construction SA. Since February 2022, he has also served as the Managing Director of International Subsidiaries of Ferrovial Construcción SA and a Board Member at Ferrovial Construction International SE in Amsterdam.

Joining Ferrovial in 2001, Mr. Martínez has been crucial in the company's international business development and commercial activities in markets such as the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, Poland, and various regions in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. He also oversees all digital tools developed in Bidding & Contracting.

Mr. Martínez holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid, ICADE E-2 (1995), and a Master of Advanced Studies, Ph.D. (ABD) from the same university (2006). His extensive experience and academic background make him a key asset to Ferrovial Construction.

Magnus Sjöberg

ECI with optimized production capability

Magnus Sjöberg is a civil engineer with many years of experience in large infrastructure projects. He has worked both as a contractor and as a client.

Before starting at Trafikverket, the Swedish Transport Administration, he was the project manager for the new port in Nynäshamn south of Stockholm, the Stockholm Norvik Port.  Currently, Magnus is the Program manager for the East Link Project, a 160 km long new double-track railway between Järna, south of Stockholm and Linköping.
