EIC 2012 Statistics: Turnover rises to new all-time high

International turnover of EIC's member companies continued to rise in 2012, up 7% to an all-time high of €167.6 billion.

EIC's member federations from 13 European countries reported the figures of close to 170 member companies for 2012.

Business in all world regions showed substantial growth with the exception of the Middle East, where business declined by 10% year-on-year. In Europe, turnover remained largely stable, up 1% year-on-year.

However, in North America international turnover generated by European contractors was up 27%, followed by Central and South America with a rise of 14% and Asia including Australia/Oceania with 13% growth. Due to five years of steady growth the market in Latin America doubled for EIC member companies since 2008. Turnover in Africa also increased by 8% for European contractors.

Looking ahead to the full year 2013, the level of new contracts suggests that this overall positive trend will continue. At €179.4 billion the volume of new contracts clearly indicates a further increase in turnover. However, while new contracts suggest the market in the Middle East will return to growth, the market in Europe may face another dent. New contracts for Europe now stand at € 73.0 billion for 2013, compared to a turnover of € 75.2 billion in 2012.
